However, patients must actively participate in self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) to achieve glycemic objectives. SMBG is significantly more beneficial in current T2DM therapy when performed in an organized manner. Structured SMBG (sSMBG) assists in attaining glycemic objectives, enables patients to meet dietary and physical activity goals, and assists healthcare practitioners (HCPs) in optimizing hypoglycemic treatments.
