Distinguishing DED Sub-types and Treatment Outcomes

Docplexus is one of the world's largest online communities
Hi Renukaprasad A R,
What is your opinion on the assessment parameters to methodically evaluate DED into its subtypes?
Dry eyes may be caused by the individual or combined malfunction of the interior hydrophilic mucin layer, the middle aqueous layer, and the superficial lipid layer. Classification of dry eye by using the right diagnostic criteria can guide better dry eye treatment.
Check out this infographic on the proportion of patients categorized into the different cohorts of DED, including ADDE, EDE, and mixed.

Key highlights:
  • Characteristics of DED subtypes
  • The tests and parameters used to classify patients into subtypes
  • Clinical evidence-based classification of patients into subtypes
Abbreviations:
ADDE: Aqueous-deficient dry eye; DED: Dry eye disease; EDE: Evaporative dry eye.
