Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R, Did you know that anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-positive NSCLC patients can significantly benefit from ALK inhibitors? - ALK rearrangements are often but not exclusively found in lung tumors from relatively young, never, or light smokers with adenocarcinoma. However, all patients with advanced NSCLC should be tested for ALK rearrangements.
- For patients with advanced or metastatic ALK-positive NSCLC, we recommend initial treatment with an ALK inhibitor rather than chemotherapy.
