Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R, By 2030, almost 40% of the Indian urban population will suffer from dry eye. Dry eye disease (DED) is challenging to detect because of its multifaceted etiopathogenesis, inconsistent symptoms, and the absence of gold-standard diagnostic testing for dry eyes. Adults, particularly men of higher socioeconomic status in urban locations, are at increased risk for developing DED. Comprehensive public health initiatives/programs and diverse epidemiological research on DED are needed to lower the number of dry eye cases in India. Here's an article that shares data insights into DED's prevalence, demographics, and risk factors in India. |
