DED: Preoperative Algorithm and Postoperative Outcomes

Docplexus - India's Largest Online Community of Verified Doctors
Hi Renukaprasad A R,
Did you know about a presurgical-specific algorithm that can help diagnose dry eye disease (DED) without its suggestive symptoms before performing refractive surgery?
DED, a condition in which eyes either do not produce enough tears or tears evaporate too quickly, can impact the success of refractive surgery. In addition, cataracts or corneal incisions can potentially exacerbate DED. A feasible presurgical-specific ocular surface disease (OSD) algorithm and questionnaire can help diagnose and treat the condition before performing keratorefractive surgery, improving surgical outcomes and, eventually, patient satisfaction.
Highlights:
  • OSD Algorithm and OSD questionnaire
  • Pathophysiology of DED
  • Critical steps in OSD algorithm
  • Postoperative care
Refer to this exclusive article for insights into OSD algorithm and preoperative DED treatment.
