Managing Insulin Dosage got Easier with SMBG

Docplexus is one of the world's largest online communities
Hi Renukaprasad A R,
Frequent blood glucose monitoring and dose titration are necessary for diabetes patients to facilitate timely insulin dose adjustment.1
Self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) devices can aid in the early detection of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, thus facilitating insulin dose titration and making diabetes self-management effective.1
Here is a case study depicting the importance of frequent blood glucose checks using an SMBG device and subsequent insulin dose adjustments to manage T2DM better.

Insulin & Analogs: Options, Formulations, and Efficacy

Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R,
The advances in recombinant DNA technologies have led to both rapid- and long-acting human insulin analogs administered via the subcutaneous route, which better mimics the physiology of insulin secretion, leading to the modern basal-bolus regimen. This enables people with diabetes to meet their individual glycemic goals effectively.
On the occasion of our 9th anniversary, we bring you an exclusive DIWAS session on "Insulin and its Analogs: Options, Formulations, and Efficacy" by experts in the field. Join us on 6th October 2022, 6:00 PM IST onwards!
Speaker: Dr. Lakshmi Hariharan
Topic: Insulin- Options and formulations
Session Highlights:
  • Types of insulin
  • Physiology of insulin secretion
  • Short-acting and long-acting analogs
Speaker: Dr. J S Kumar
Topic: Insulin analogs: Efficacy, pros and cons
Session Highlights:
  • Basal insulin analogs
  • Pre-mix insulin analogs

Postoperative DED: The Other Outcome of Cataract Surgery

Docplexus is one of the world's largest online communities
Hi Renukaprasad A R,
Cataract surgery accounts for millions of ocular surgeries performed globally. While it offers patient benefits in terms of a high success rate, it does have several potential complications. Dry eye disease (DED) is the most typical complication and needs to be addressed promptly. Artificial tear products (ATPs) are the gold standard for postoperative DED management. ATP-containing polyethylene glycol (PEG), propylene glycol (PG), and hyaluronic acid (HA) provide multiple benefits to these patients.
Read this article for more information on how the PEG-PG-HA solution relieves DED symptoms and improves tear film quality.
Highlights:

  • DED is the most frequent complication post-cataract surgery.
  • DED is associated with some pre-, intra-, and post-risk factors.
  • Presurgical evaluation of the ocular surface can decrease the incidence.
  • Using HPG and HA eye drops for treating post-cataract DED provides favorable results.
