👁️ Dry eye? This lipid-based eye lubricant may be your new go-to

Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R,
How does propylene glycol-hydroxypropyl guar (PG-HPG) lipid-based eye lubricant work?
Dry eye disease (DED) is classified as evaporative dry eye (EDE), aqueous deficient dry eye (ADDE), and mixed dry eye. Lipid-containing artificial tears are proposed as a step closer to natural tears because they more closely mimic the muco-aqueous and lipid layers of the tear film. They are particularly designed to restore the lipid layer of the tear film, reduce the tear evaporation rate, and enhance tear film stability, thereby improving signs and symptoms of EDE. Further, they potentially have a longer-lasting lubricating effect while minimally interfering with the patient's vision.
PG-HPG nanotechnology-based eye drops optimize the ocular surface, replenish the top lipid layer of the tear film, and hydrate and protect the ocular surface.

Watch this video to learn how PG/HPG lipid-based eye lubricants work on the muco-aqueous and lipid layer of the tear film and relieve symptoms of EDE!

Corneal Nerves & Dry Eye Disease: Exploring the Connection

Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R,
Did you know that corneal nerves are crucial in maintaining a healthy ocular surface?

The cornea's nerve fiber density is 300-600 times higher than that of the skin, making it the most heavily innervated tissue in the human body.
Tear production decreases when ocular nerves are damaged. Diseases like dry eye disease (DED), neurotrophic keratopathy (NK), and neuropathic ocular pain (NOP) can develop as a result of this.
Accurate diagnosis and treatment of DED require knowledge of the anatomical and functional changes to the corneal nerves that occur in this disease condition.

Read this article to learn more about how DED affects corneal nerves.

Prenatal Screening & Testing: Common Genetic Disorders

Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R,
The current non-invasive prenatal tests help avoid procedure-related risks and provide highly accurate results of common genetic or chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. Hence, several countries have implemented standard prenatal screening procedures for all pregnant women.
To learn more about prenatal screening and understand common genetic disorders, join the eminent Gynecologist, Dr. Sanjay Gupte, in our exclusive webinar, TODAY, 3:00 PM IST onwards.
🎯 Session Highlights:

  • Introduction to prenatal screening and testing
  • Commonly used screening and diagnostic tests
  • Overview of common genetic conditions and chromosomal abnormalities
  • Advances in prenatal testing technology
  • Future directions and challenges

👁️ Severity Classification in Dry Eye: Tailored Outcomes & Effective Treatment

Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R,
Dry eye disease (DED) is a complex health concern that requires a multidisciplinary approach for better management. Early diagnosis, proper classification of DED subtypes and severity, and a customized treatment strategy are essential for effective treatment. Moreover, a comprehensive evaluation to classify the DED subtypes and determine their severity accurately is crucial for tailored treatment plans.
Lipid-containing artificial tears help restore the lipid layer of the tear film, enhancing its stability and reducing evaporative dry eyes.
Check out this infographic highlighting a reliable, helpful, and practical tool to classify the severity of DED, which helps eye care practitioners optimize the treatment algorithm!

🤰 Prenatal Screening: Current Trends and Future

Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R,
Latest developments in prenatal screening enable the identification of the risks of genetic disorders in fetuses using non-invasive or less-invasive procedures in the blood. The discovery of cell-free fetal DNA in maternal plasma and improved high-throughput molecular technologies make these developments possible. In addition, the latest prenatal testing avoids miscarriages, which are common following invasive screening procedures.
To learn more about prenatal screening and understand common genetic disorders, join the eminent Gynecologist, Dr. Sanjay Gupte, in our exclusive webinar on 8th June 20233:00 PM IST onwards.
