Threats and Abuse Against Doctors- A Discussion

Hi Renukaprasad A R,
The increasing incidence of threats and attacks on doctors and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) has spurred the need for complete attention to HCPs' safety. According to the latest regulations released by the National Medical Council, any abusive and violent behavior by a patient can be documented and reported by the doctor, who can then choose not to proceed with treatment and make the necessary referrals.
Join this discussion on the topic "Refusal of treatment in case of abusive and violent patients" with expert panelists Dr. Ashok Gupta, Dr. Lalit Kapoor, Dr. D R Rai, and Prof. Arun Jamkar on "Doctor's Day- Medicolegal Webinar" TODAY, from 6:00 PM IST onwards.

Next-Generation Artificial Tears: A Relief for Dry Eyes

Hi Renukaprasad A R,
Do you think artificial tears are safe and effective against DED?
Dry eye disease (DED), a growing public health condition, disturbs the normal eye functioning and interferes with the patients' quality of life. Next-generation artificial tears provide lubrication on the ocular surface and have a prolonged duration of action. In addition, artificial tears are considered safe; therefore, they are being appraised as first-line therapy for DED.
Check out this Infographic highlighting the clinical benefits of artificial tears for DED management.

Highlights -
  • High prevalence of DED
  • Risk factors for DED
  • Components of artificial tears
  • Superiority of newer artificial tears
  • Clinical benefits of the components of artificial tears

Glaucoma: The Risk Factors (Part II)

Docplexus - Community of 380,000+ Doctors
Hi Renukaprasad A R,
Glaucoma is an optical neuropathy characterized by the loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs), which causes damage to the optic nerve head (ONH) and observable visual field abnormalities. Although increasing intraocular pressure (IOP) is the most common cause of glaucoma, there is growing evidence that vascular variables play a role in the disease's development. Age, gender (women are at a higher risk than men), family history, and race/ethnicity are some of the general risk factors for glaucoma.
Systemic and ocular vascular factors are also linked with this condition. Some of the systemic risk factors include diabetes mellitus, smoking, pseudoexfoliation syndrome and ocular perfusion pressure.
Check out PART II of this post, which enumerates systemic risk factors and their role in glaucoma progression.
