Hi Renukaprasad A R, Intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs) are critical ophthalmic emergencies that require urgent diagnosis and treatment to prevent blindness or globe loss. They present about 16-41% of open globe injuries and frequently cause severe visual loss in patients along with ocular trauma. Previous studies have stated that most IOFBs are work-related, and accidents are significantly more common among young men, who usually account for more than 90% of cases. To learn more about surgery and the post-surgery management of IOFBs, join Dr. S Natarajan, a renowned ophthalmologist, for a Surgical Suite session, TODAY at 4:00 PM IST. |
