Diabetic-related Skin Problems: The Indian Perspective

In patients with diabetes mellitus (DM), the skin is significantly impacted by acute metabolic changes and microvascular complications. Nearly 51.1-97% of DM patients worldwide suffer from skin disorders.1
The skin disorders in DM patients can manifest either concurrently with the disease or, in many cases, years before the diagnosis.2 Awareness of the burden of DM-associated skin conditions may improve their prevention and treatment.1
This exclusive article discusses the pattern of skin problems seen in DM patients in India.
