PG/HPG Eye Lubricant: A Vital Approach for DED Management

Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R,
How does propylene glycol-hydroxypropyl guar (PG-HPG) lipid-based eye lubricant work?
Dry eye disease (DED) is classified as evaporative dry eye (EDE), aqueous deficient dry eye (ADDE), and mixed dry eye. Lipid-containing artificial tears are proposed as a step closer to natural tears because they more closely mimic the muco-aqueous and lipid layers of the tear film. They are particularly designed to restore the lipid layer of the tear film, reduce the tear evaporation rate, and enhance tear film stability, thereby improving signs and symptoms of EDE. Further, they potentially have a longer-lasting lubricating effect while minimally interfering with the patient's vision.
PG-HPG nanotechnology-based eye drops optimize the ocular surface, replenish the top lipid layer of the tear film, and hydrate and protect the ocular surface.

Watch this video to learn how PG/HPG lipid-based eye lubricants work on the muco-aqueous and lipid layer of the tear film and relieve symptoms of EDE!
