Crosslinked HA Eye Drops: A Better Option to Treat Dry Eye

Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R,
Can crosslinked hyaluronic acid (HA) effectively manage dry eye disease (DED) in postmenopausal women?
Menopause is one of the most common causes of DED. Estrogen and progesterone levels decrease during menopause leading to alterations in lacrimal and meibomian glands in the eyelids. Hence, the eyelid reduces the tear production and quality, leading to DED. Moreover, menopausal women on antidepressants, anxiolytics, antihistamines, and antihypertensive therapy, are more prone to developing DED. Recently, HA has been crosslinked to improve its property, resulting in clinical effectiveness and safety for treating DED.
Check out this video discussing the impact of crosslinked HA eye drops in menopausal women on antidepressant drugs!
