Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R, Diabetes is the most common chronic condition worldwide. Comorbidity-associated risks and unique patient profiles demand a tailored treatment approach with constant monitoring of blood glucose levels for managing diabetes. Diabetes management with insulin or glinides may have side effects in many patients, such as acute hypoglycemic episodes, damaging the central nervous system, causing dementia, or even fatality.1 Frequent blood glucose monitoring through self-monitoring blood glucose (SMBG) devices is necessary as it facilitates timely insulin dose adjustments.2 Read this case study depicting the importance of frequent blood glucose checks using the SMBG device and subsequent insulin dose adjustments to manage T2DM better.References -- Ceriello A et al., Diabetes research and clinical practice. 2012 Oct 1;98(1):5-10.
