Cataract Surgery and Dry Eyes: What Does the Evidence Say?

Dear Dr. Renukaprasad A R,
How frequently do you come across cases of dry eyes after cataract surgeries?
The development or worsening of symptoms of dry eye disease (DED) post-cataract surgery is multifactorial in nature. Although the current procedures for cataract surgery are safe, around 42% of patients who undergo cataract surgery still develop DED symptoms. Treatment for post-operative DED should be determined based on the severity of symptoms and the underlying cause.
Check out this Infographic highlighting the long-term effects of cataract surgery on the eyes!
