Keratoconus is a progressive, asymmetrical, bilateral corneal disease characterized by paraxial corneal stromal thinning and steepening. It causes blurred vision and may cause sensitivity to light and glare that occurs primarily from irregular astigmatism and myopia induced by corneal distortion and secondarily from corneal scarring.
